Native to the Amazon rainforest, Calathea are an excellent choice for those with pets or small children as they are completely non-toxic. They require good drainage and to keep their leaves looking their best, avoid direct sunlight and water this plant only with rainwater or distilled water, as it can be sensitive to hard water, chlorine and fluoride.
