Tillandsia usneoides - Spanish moss

Known as Spanish moss, this plant is not native to Spain, nor is it a moss! Actually a species of air plant, Tillandsia usneoides is native to Mexico and the southern US, where it can be seen hanging from trees like a silver curtain. In the home, this plant requires bright sunlight and to be watered weekly by dunking in a bowl or bucket of water so that it can absorb what it needs through the silvery hairs covering its surface.
